1.) Who can participate in the Teenager language programs?
Our U20 program is aimed at teenagers between the ages of 13 and 21 years who wish to improve their language skills while being on holiday, or even might want to learn a new language.
If you are already 18 years old you can book the language program yourself, however minors need a parental authorization. In these cases we will provide a parental authorization letter that your parents must sign and return to us.
For all destinations and travel dates there are a minimum of 4 participants required. In the unlikely event that this is not achieved we will notify you not later than 4 weeks before departure and offer alternatives. More information can be found in our terms and conditions.
2.) What languages can students learn?
We offer U20 Teenager language programs for English, Spanish, French, Italian, German and Chinese.
3.) How does the Teenager language program work?
In our U20 Teenager language programs we teach languages in the relaxed atmosphere of a youth travel environment, without boredom or learning stress of everyday school life. The initial uncertainty will be quickly overcome and grammar and vocabulary learning will be fun together with old and new friends!
In the afternoon we offer an activity program which will introduce you to the destination country, its people and their culture. All participants are supervised according to their age.
You are already 18 or older? But want to enjoy traveling with us in the U20 youth program? No Problem! You will get the full support of our teamers but are not obliged to participate in our leisure program. You may of course participate in any of the proposed activities, but you might as well follow your own interests.
Language course as booked Teaching material (its possibly that you must hire material) Accommodation and catering as booked Around-the-clock supervision by or teamers Organized excursions Other activities
The flight itself is not included in the prices on this site.
Depending on the country you might need rather more or less pocket money. We recommend an average of 120 Euros per week. Pocket money is mainly needed for the bus ticket, small snacks or drinks between meals, as well as for souvenirs and other purchases.
5.) When do students get their travel confirmation and travel documents?
After we have received your enrollment we will check the availability of the selected program and provide you with an availability confirmation within 1-3 days together with the payment options.
The online enrollment alone does not oblige you to make the final reservation! The final reservation is made with the payment of the deposit.
After you have made the reservation we will provide you with your booking confirmation and travel documents which will give you detailed information about your program.
We will provide you with your voucher after we have received the full payment. You will find your accommodation address in the voucher; this can for example be the address of your host family with contact details (if you have reserved host family accommodation).
All documents will be sent by email!
6.) Are students insured during the language program?
We recommend a cancellation and travel insurance. Please contact your actual insurance provider as these insurances might already be included or may be available for a small extra fee.
At all destinations full board is included with breakfast and dinner, as well as either a packed lunch (sandwich, drink, fruit, something sweet) or a hot lunch. The catering is always according to local standards.
Please note that it is not an all-inclusive catering! Tap water is often served with the meals, you should therefore provide yourself with drinks outside the eating times.
Allergies and special diets: We kindly ask you to inform us about any allergies you might have or if you are following s special diet. Please provide us with detailed information especially if you have any allergies.
Please also notify us if you have to take medication regularly so that we can inform the teamer (and if applicable your host family) about it. In exceptional cases we reserve the right to charge an additional fee for special diets.
8.) How can the students give their feedback?
Quality comes first! Therefore all participants will fill out a feedback at the end of the program and can of course contact our teamers immediately in case of any inconveniences. Thus we can fix problems directly on site to make sure you can enjoy your program to the fullest.
Since every student has different needs and goals, we offer these types of courses:
Standard Course: In 20 lessons per week (4x45 minutes daily from Monday to Friday), participants learn to speak freely, increase their vocabulary, consolidate their knowledge of grammar and develop increased safety in the foreign language.
Intensive course: The course consists of 30 lessons a week (6x45 minutes daily from Monday to Friday) and builds on the standard course. More emphasis is placed on free speech and the application of acquired language skills.
Classes are usually held from 09:00h to 12:00h / 14:30h respectively. However, the exact times will vary depending on the destination. During the summer it is possible that lessons will also be held in the afternoon.
2.) How will the optimal course be determined for the students?
All participants will be place into their groups according to the result of a placement tests which can be done prior to arrival online or on the first day of course at the destination.
Levels range from beginners without any previous knowledge to participants with basic knowledge up to intermediate and advanced levels.
Each participant receives a certificate after completing the course.
3.) Are the teachers native speakers?
Our teachers are young, motivated and of course native speakers who communicate in classroom with their students exclusively in the course language.
As the success of the language course mainly depends on communication, we apply a lively teaching model, very communicative and as varied as possible, supported by modern teaching methods and illustrative materials, including videos and movies.
4.) Are students supervised outside the classroom?
Yes. In all locations participants are supervised by teachers and our teamers. Our teamers are usually between 21-30 years old and from different European countries. Therefore they will always also speak the course language at each destination.
Our teamers enjoy working with young people and also live in the residence; they accompany students through the day and organize the leisure program. They also help with any questions or special requests. There is one teamer for every 15 students.
5.) How does Sprachcaffe ensure the quality of the program?
One of the great advantages of Sprachcaffe is that we organize our language programs ourselves. This gives us the opportunity to assure quality in all sectors, such as the travel preparation, selection of instructors, teaching, premises, facilities and leisure activities.
As we use of a network of our own private schools in England, France, Spain, Italy, Canada, US, China, Germany and Malta we have small to medium sized learning centers available at many locations, quality is guaranteed by our local staff.
The prices on this website do not include the cost of travel by plane or bus. The decision to organize the journey yourself - or optionally to book through us - therefore is up to each participant. Please note that we only offer plane connections from Austria, Germany and Switzerland. If you don’t reside in any of these countries you will have to organize the travel yourself.
We only work with experienced coach and airlines together so that we can guarantee safety and quality!
2.) From which airports you one travel by plane?
Whether the destination is England, Malta, Spain, Italy, France, USA, Canada or China; most destinations can be reached from Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hanover, Munich, Stuttgart and Vienna. Flights may be direct or with stop overs.
Please note that depending on your nationality and destination a visa may be necessary. Please contact your local embassy for details.
3.) What does one have to consider when booking a flight?
The seats available at our flight rates from Austria, Germany and Switzerland are limited. If we cannot find any available seats for our flight rates we might have to ask you to cover the additional costs.
Alternatively you can of course book your flight yourself.
4.) Are students also supervised on the flight booked via Sprachcaffe?
If you have reserved your plane ticket with us you will be received at the destination airport by our teamer and then be transferred directly to your accommodation.
Supervision on the flight is by default not included, but can in most cases be booked for a supplement of 50 Euros.
5.) Can students can also organize the travel to and from their destination themselves?
Travel to and from the destination can be organized by each participant on their own behalf. Please don’t forget to inform us about your arrival time at least 2 weeks before the start of your program.
In this case a representative will receive you at your accommodation address.
6.) What accommodation options are available?
We think it's important to stay in a nice place with nice people. What type of accommodation is preferred by each participant depends on her / his personal taste.
Basically we offer at each destination one or two different types of accommodation which offer the typical comfort of the destination’s country. Generally you can select between these options:
Host Family: The benefits of staying with a local family include learning about culture and the way of life of the country and its people first hand and of course the option to speak the language in real life situations every day. Within the host family you will live together with other students in double or triple rooms and share the bathroom.
As most host families do not live in the city center you may have to walk a bit or use public transport to the school. Therefore you should take into account a travel budget as for the cost of bus tickets. Weekly ticket costs between € 12, - and € 30, -.
Please also note that internet use in the host family is not automatically included, but you can go online in most schools or public internet cafes. Furthermore, we do not offer laundry. However your host parents and teamers like to tell you where the nearest laundry is located.
Residence: Accommodation in our residences offers a bit more freedom than living with host families. The residences are usually near the school, which is convenient and saves time. Moreover it is easy to make contacts with fellow students and spend some time together.
Breakfast, dinner and a hot lunch or a lunch box are always included in any type of accommodation.
In exceptional cases we reserve the right to offer accommodation that is not identical to our descriptions on this website but comparable.
7.) When students can check in and out of their accommodation?
You can usually move into your room in the afternoon at 14:00h, the first meal in your accommodation is therefore the dinner. On your day of departure you must vacate the room by 12:00h, therefore your last meal in the accommodation will be breakfast.
Should you arrive at your destination very early, or depart very late, our teamers will help you with anything you need.
Usually you will have to pay a key deposit (please add this to your pocket money). The deposit will of course be reimbursed on departure if no damage has been done.
The activities in the afternoon and evening are equally important as the language classes in the morning. These activities are fun and give all participants the chance to make new friends and to converse in the foreign language.
We will organize sports events, cultural visits, disco evenings and barbecues on the beach. Our team leaders and instructors will fully take advantage of all local options.
If you are under 18 years old participation in the activity program is mandatory.
2.) What sportive activities are offered?
Sports and fun are important to us; at all destinations it is in possible to do different types of sports.
At most destinations we offer optional activities that can be booked locally for an extra fee.
3.) Do the activities also include excursions?
At each destination we offer you a complete activities and excursion program. Excursions are included depending on the period of your stay as follows:
